Crystal Eyes Rank Information

Hello all! So here's the basic information on our ten ranks. Your character must belong to one of the allotted ranks, and please note that some ranks can not automatically be gained, but must be earned through hard work.

ALPHAS

The alphas are at the top of the hierarchy and are the main leaders of the pack, with two of them operating at one time. They do not necessarily have to be a male and a female, and they don't have to be a mated pair. Think of it more like the consuls in Rome; rule split between two people. This rank can not be automatically taken, but must be earned and rightfully deserved.

BETAS

The betas are the second highest rank and act as secondary leaders. They can advise the alphas, or supervise excursions when the top leaders are not. There are also two betas, each fully prepared to take the spot of an alpha if they abruptly disappear, depart, or pass away. This rank can not be automatically taken, but must be rightfully earned.

DELTAS

The deltas rank third highest and act as leaders for their specific rank. There are three different occupational ranks (Soldiers, Hunters, and Menders) with one delta to lead each rank (Delta Soldier, Delta Hunter, Delta Mender) The deltas are the best at their occupation and lead the other members in their division. This rank can not be automatically taken, but must be earned.

SOLDIERS
Soldiers are the largest and the strongest wolves, and their main job is to protect the pack at all costs. Thus they are the best fighters, and the first wolves called in for an attack and/or a defense. Anyone can take this rank.
Current Soldiers: Phionite

HUNTERS

Hunters are the swiftest wolves with the most agile bodies, adept for stalking and pursuing prey. Their primary duty is to hunt and catch food for the rest of the pack, and rank equally with the Soldiers and Menders. Anyone can take this rank.
Current Hunters:

MENDERS

Menders act as the pack's medicinal care unit, and rank equally with the Soldiers and Hunters. They possess an extensive knowledge of healing herbs and techniques, and can also act as spiritual guides for the pack, interpreting omens, signs, and dreams delivered by the spirits. Anyone can take this rank.

APPRENTICES

apprentices are yearlings who are in the process of learning how to become either a Soldier, a Hunter, or a Mender, and are taught by the members belonging to their specified occupation. They graduate from their apprenticeship when they reach the age of 1.5 years, and usually start at the age of six months. Anyone may take this rank.

PUPS

These are wolves too young to begin their apprenticeship just yet, and are below the age of six months. Pups are cared and provided for by the entire pack, not just by their parents. Anyone may take this rank.

OMEGAS

The omegas are at the very bottom of the social order, primarily for being seen as useless by their pack mates. They are not given a specified duty to perform and are the very last to eat from a pack meal. They are often mistreated and disrespected by their pack-mates, and for this reason they normally prefer to live on the border of pack life. Anyone may take this rank, but no one can be demoted to it against their will.

*THE KARANI*

The karani is the accursed one, the lone she-wolf born with crystal blue eyes. She is the one every pack afflicted by the curse is after, the one to be sacrificed once she turns three years old. Her death upon the sacred altar brings peace, abundance, and prosperity to the pack that sacrifices her, and also grants the power to the specific individual who kills her, while every other pack is forced to face starvation and the wrath of the spirits. Once a karani dies, a new one is born directly after, normally in a different pack in another place. The karani can either be a plot character or someone's main character if they volunteer to do so, just keep in mind that there can only be one at a time.
