Mountain forests
These forests are excellent for tracking down the natural mountain game, though the terrain is a bit tougher to hunt on. Yet if the hunters are looking for a challenge, they are bound to come here.
Re: Mountain forests
Agea sat quietly beneath the pine trees, taking a few deep, frigid breaths, watching the foggy clouds of her exhale float around her. Autumn would soon end, and winter was evident in the freezing air. The colder months were difficult enough to find prey in, but she knew well enough that that wouldn't be an issue for her pack.
Her chest constricted with pain at the reminder, and she shut her pine green eyes tight in despair, somberly remembering the incidents leading up to her arrival here. Lotus, her pure white coat stained scarlet from her lacerated throat, her crystal blue gaze wide and imploring as she begged her sister to kill her. She dug her nails deep into the hard mountain soil at the sullen memory, tears welling up in her eyes as she pushed it out of her mind. It was the past. Her sister was gone; she had to accept that. Instead of dwelling any longer on the matter, she lifted her solemn gaze to the forests around her, determination growing within them. Right, she thought hastily as she stood, lifting her snout to the frigid air, I have a job here to do.
She was finally back home, in her pack's territory. It was here where she watched her parents get mutilated, disemboweled in front of the entire pack. As their only surviving pup, she was obligated to rebuild their decimated kingdom as the new alpha. She straightened, an undeniably strong sense of purpose enveloping her being. It was her duty to them to gather up the remnants of their pack and restore it to working order... a very daunting endeavor, now that she was here, attempting to do it. After all, her former packmates had gone rogue, living it out in the territory on their own. They were hostile even to each other; how would they react to her, an outsider claiming to be their new leader. She swallowed the lump forming in her throat with uncertainty, her heart beginning to race with anxiety. How was she supposed to do this?

Re: Mountain forests
Phionite trotted through the forest, for once alone, but she was not lonely. Thoughts and memories raced through her head as she thought over the last few months and the events that led to Agea becoming an alpha. She shivered as a cool breeze stroked her fur. She looked up at the sky covered with clouds, another shiver passing through her body as she realized it would probably snow soon. She was no weather expert, but her instinct on that matter was most often correct.
Phionite stopped abruptly when she saw Agea beneath a pine tree. She was still a little way off to leave unnoticed, but she was not sure whether she wanted to do that. Even though she was naturally friendly, she has not yet decided what was her opinion of the alpha and was hesitant to approach her. She took a step forward and a twig cracked under her paw. Now the alpha was bound to notice her. Taking a deep breath, Phionite continued forward, hoping Agea did not see her staring.

Re: Mountain forests
Agea snapped her head around the moment she heard the twig snap, her ears perked and alert for any sign of danger. Her pine green eyes immediately landed on Phionite, a soldier for her pack. The female appeared to be hesitant, as if she hadn't really wanted to be noticed. And she really hadn't known she was there until she'd made that single, conspicuous noise. Of course, I could have seen her coming for miles away had I used the power. She sunk her claws deep into the soil beneath her, shoving the recurring thought out of her mind. She would never use the power. Not at the cost it had taken to acquire it.
Yet, she was constantly encountering those tempting thoughts urging her to use it. She supposed it was only logical; if you possess a strength, you should utilize it. But then again, was it a strength? It was an incredible capability: clairvoyance and telepathy. But how many innocent wolves had been slaughtered for it? How many power hungry individuals had driven themselves to blood thirsty insanity attempting to gain it? She shuddered for a moment at the thought; she would definitely never use it. She didn't want something so trivial to change her very being, and she didn't want to benefit from others' suffering. Especially since it was.....her sister's.
She snapped herself out of her incessant pondering once she realized that she had company, and, pushing her doubts aside, adorned herself in a shy smile. "Hello Phionite," she greeted the female politely, dipping her head in a courteous manner, "How are you?" Though she appeared to be maintaining a calm demeanor, she was actually extremely nervous. She was the new, inexperienced alpha of a disorganized pack with members who could easily ignore her wishes and commands. It was crucial that she portrayed herself as a capable leader, even if she didn't even know that she was one yet.

Re: Mountain forests
Phionite sighed quietly in relief at the alpha's friendliness. She did not know what to expect and was glad to see that their new leader did not consider it beneath her to make friendly talk with lower-ranking wolves. She trotted closer, smiling widely. She did not seem to notice Agea's formal politeness and happily greeted her leader. "Hello, Agea! Nice to see you!" Phionite wagged her tail a little, then remembering that she was speaking to a higher-ranking wolf, she dipped her head in a show of submission though her smile never faltered. "I'm quite good, thank you" she answered Agea's question without a pause. "And you?" Phionite sat down on the cold ground, neatly covering her paws with her tail. Agea looked calm and confident, but there was a flicker of something, nervousness? worry?, in her eyes that made Phionite determined to become a trusted friend to the alpha.

Re: Mountain forests
"Hello, Agea! Nice to see you!"
The grey pelted she-wolf called out as she trotted over, a friendly grin evident on her expression. As the she-wolf trotted over, she began to feel her anxieties melt away, leaving a pleasant, albeit shy, warmth within her. She had spent a large portion of her life with only her sister as company, and it had felt completely foreign to her when she had returned home without her beloved companion. She hadn't really ever had a friend in the world besides Lotus, and she was eager to make new acquaintances.
The brown and white she-wolf paused for a moment before responding, her pine green eyes a clear signal for her hesitation. How was she? She gazed down at her paws, uncertain quite how she should answer. My sister is gone. My parents are dead. I'm the alpha of a disorganized pack...
"I've been better," she answered earnestly, her paws shuffling gently through the dirt, "I-" She cut her self short when an alarming scent hit her nose, something she felt should have been familiar but still couldn't identify. She stood abruptly and turned toward the direction of the smell, her body taking a rigid, stone like composure. What is that? she wondered with growing panic as she scanned the area around her with narrowed, analytic eyes, bear? cougar? other wolves? she stiffened at the thought, really not wanting to face any of them at that particular moment.
